A YOUTH SEMINAR

PSALM 78:1-7 (CEV)

1. My friends, I beg you to listen as I teach.

2. I will give instruction and explain the mystery of what happened long ago.

3. These are things we learned from our ancestors,

4. and we will tell them to the next generation. We won't keep secret the glorious deeds and the mighty miracles of the Lord.

5. God gave his Law to Jacob's descendants, the people of Israel. And he told our ancestors to teach their children,

6. so that each new generation would know his Law and tell it to the next.

7. Then they would trust God and obey his teachings, without forgetting anything God had done.

II TIMOTHY 1:1-7

1. From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus. God himself chose me to be an apostle, and he gave me the promised life that Jesus Christ makes possible.

2. Timothy, you are like a dear child to me. I pray that God our Father and our Lord Christ Jesus will be kind and merciful to you and will bless you with peace!

3. Night and day I mention you in my prayers. I am always grateful for you, as I pray to the God my ancestors and I have served with a clear conscience.

4. I remember how you cried, and I want to see you, because this would make me truly happy.

5. I also remember the genuine faith of your mother Eunice. Your grandmother Lois had the same sort of faith, and I am sure you have it as well.

6. So I ask you to make full use of the gift God gave you when I placed my hands on you. Use it well.

7. God's Spirit doesn't make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.​

GOALS

I. To discuss in the family the gifts of salvation, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost

II. To analyze the growth process as well as the expectations of parents and youths.

III. To share expectations in references to sex as it pertains to our youths.

IV. To evaluate the preparation for death in the family.

DEFINITIONS

Youth - The period of life between childhood and adulthood. It is a period of growh and development, the transisitional period of young people graduating to become adults.

Seminar - An interaction meeting of people coming together to review a certain subject or subjects. It is designed to discuss freely ideas from which all can benefit.

Expectations - A set of beliefs, values, and positions one may hold. They can vary and may change from time to time. Expectations in families are important and help in the growth process.

All youth, regardless of who they are and regardless of circumstances, need a working knowledge of Godly intervention. The intervention should carry expectations of love, honesty, and integrity. Unfortunatley, we are living in dire times where death is always near. These are verses for family discussion to be used at home with sincere input from your youths.
